Meet Schedule
WICHITA, Kan. -- Wichita State has 25 student-athletes selected to the NCAA West Track and Field Preliminaries in Lawrence, Kan., May 26-28, the largest Shocker contingent in history to compete at the event.
The Shocker men are led by freshman
Jared Belardo, who will compete in both the triple jump and long jump. His triple jump is the sixth-best in the competition at 52-6.5/16.01m, while his long jump is the is the 16th-best in the field at 25-4.5/7.73m.
WSU's
Carlea Holt has the highest-ranked mark for the Shocker women at No. 15 in the javelin. Her school-record throw of 164-11/50.28m at the Valley Championship moved her from 34th in the West last week to No. 15.
Also with marks in the top 10 in the field at their respetive events are
Weston Cottrell, who has the eighth-best hammer throw at 213-10/65.19m, and
Damien Odle, who has the 10th-best throw in the javelin at 240-8/73.36m.
The Shockers will also have three competitiors in three different events, the women's 3,000 meter steeplechase and the men's javelin and hammer throw.
Sidney Hirsch,
Rebekah Topham and
Kayla Deighan will run in the steeplechase. For the men, Cottrell,
Skylar Arneson and
Taylor Goldsmith will compete in the hammer throw and Odle,
Dylan Reimer and
Chase Pote will compete in the javelin.
