Belardo, Suenram Place at Texas Relays

Texas ResultsBelardo long-jumped 23-3.25, while Suenram threw the discus 149-5 to wrap up the Shockers' competition in Austin.
Shockers Win Seven Titles at ESU Relays
EMPORIA, Kan. -- Wichita State Track and Field won five individual events and two relays at the Emporia State Relays Saturday afternoon, led by
Kayla Deighan's double-win in the 800 meters and 1,500 meters. |
Emporia State ResultsDeighan ran 2:15.29 in the 800 meters and 4:37.39 in the 1,500 meters for the wins, while WSU's Emilea FInley was second in the 1,500 meters with a time of 4:41.68.
WSU was also 1-2 in the men's 1,500 meters with
Zack Penrod's 3:58.94 taking the win and
Nathan Wickoren's 3:59.96 coming in second.
Joe Harter opened the meet with a win in the 3,000 meters in a time of 8:53.05, while
Taylor Thomas won the women's 400 meter hurdles in a time of 1:01.25. Thomas also helped the 4x400 relay team win and was third in the 100 meter hurdles.
Two of the Shocker women's relay teams won on Saturday, including the 4x200 meter relay of
Carlea Holt,
Ximena Cazenave,
Sierra Hays and
Emily Doffing that ran 1:43.25. To end the day, WSU's 4x400 meter relay team of
Morgan Prather,
Taylor Thomas,
Lauren Pickens and
Kelsey Lathrop ran a 3:50.19 to win.
Wichita State is next in action April 13-16 at home for the
K.T. Woodman and plays host to the Shocker Pre-State High School meet.
