Taylor to Transfer from WSU

WICHITA, Kan. – Wichita State freshman Ty Taylor II has requested and been granted a release to transfer at the end of the spring semester, head coach Gregg Marshall announced Thursday.

"We want to thank Ty for all of his hard work this year. He has been a fine representative of our program," Marshall said. "We wish him nothing but the best, on and off the court, as he continues his career."

Taylor – a 6-foot-1 guard -- appeared in 20 games off the bench and averaged 3.0 points and 0.6 assists in 2015-16. He has three seasons of eligibility remaining.

A true freshman, Taylor saw extensive playing time early in the year with WSU's guard rotation thinned by injuries. He scored 10 points in his Shocker debut against Charleston Southern and dished out six assists without a turnover on Nov. 27 against Alabama, averaging 5.8 points, 1.5 assists and 16.3 minutes in six November contests.

Taylor is a graduate of Grandview (Mo.) High School near Kansas City, where he broke NBA guard Alec Burks' school record with 1,551 career points. He spent a postgraduate year at Hargrave Military Academy in Virginia.
