WSU improved to 12-8 on the season with the victory.
The Shockers started the match by winning the doubles point. WSU won all three doubles matches, highlighted by
Sergio de Vilchez and
Eddie Stoica's comeback. Stoica and de Vilchez found themselves in a 5-0 hole to begin the match, but battled back to win the next seven games to take it, 7-5.
In singles action, de Vilchez got Wichita State off to a strong start with a 6-2, 6-0, win over Max Pyle on court No. 3.
Vitor Mendes and
Eddie Stoica both recorded straight set wins of 6-2, 6-0, on their respective courts.
Tin Ostojic handled his business in No. 1 singles with a win 6-4, 6-1, over Eduardo Santos. At No. 5,
Austin Williams won by retirement after Jose Enrique Coiras could not finish the match. Williams won the first set, 6-2.
