HOUSTON  --  Wichita State's women Heptathletes all set personal records for points and claimed five of the top six spots, led by champion Gavyn Yetter, Tuesday and Wednesday at the Rice Shirley Crowe Multis at Ley Stadium.

Yetter won the Heptathlon with a career-best 5,447 points while winning five of the seven events. She won the 100 meter hurdles (14.39), the shot put (41-5.25), 200 meters (25.28), the long jump (18-2.25) and the final event, the 800 meters (2:16.41). She was third in the high jump (5-3.25), and second (124-5) in the javelin to teammate Carlea Holt.

Marteshia Caines was second with a personal record 5,001 points, while Claudia Rojo was third with 4,965 points.  Caines' high finish was second in the high jump at 5-5.75.

Sierra Hays was fourth with 4,895 points and Carlea Holt was sixth with 4,656 points. Holt won the javelin with a throw of 151-7. Ximena Cazenave rounded-out WSU scoring with a personal best 4,264 points and a 10th-place finish.

In the Decathlon, Hunter Veith was the highest-scoring Shocker and collegian with 6,817 points, finishing fourth to former Shocker and All-American Austin Bahner's 7,466 points, unattached Wesley Bray's 7,125 points and unattached Adolphus Jones' 7,112 points.

Veith won the 110 hurdles in a time of 15.2, and was second to Bahner in the 100 meters (11.2) and the 400 meters (50.01).

Kaden Griffin finished ninth in his first Decathlon with 6,069 points. John Nicholas was 10th with 6,054 points and Kyle Troxler was 19th. 

Wichita State will next compete at the Texas-San Antonio Invitational Friday and Saturday.

In San Antonio, Wichita State will face competitors at the Park West Athletic Complex from host UT-San Antonio, Kansas State, Stephen F. Austin, Houston, Sam Houston, Texas A&M Corpus Christi and Texas Rio Grande Valley.  Schedule  |  Live Results
