Hays played in the U.S. Kids Junior World Championship in 2013 & 2014 and won the OJGT Bailey Ranch Bash in 2015. Hays also finished runner up at the Arkansas Junior Amateur Stroke Play and the AJGA Junior at Oak Tree in 2016.
"I'm delighted to have Palmer join our program and I'm excited for him," said Jones. "He's got some talent but he is also going to have to improve mentally through the college golf experience. I'm excited for Palmer to join us here at Wichita State and I'm looking forward to seeing how he develops."
Zac Owens – Mooreland, Okla. (Mooreland HS)
Zac Owens from Mooreland, Okla., joins the Wichita State men's golf team as part of a 2A State Championship winning team in 2015 & 2016. As a high school freshman, Owens placed eighth in state, as a sophomore he placed third and as a junior he placed second. In both 2015 & 2016, Owens placed second on the Oklahoma Junior Golf Tour Championship and qualified for the BIG I National Championship, making the cut in both years. Owens won the Junior Tour Players Championship at the golf club of Oklahoma in 2014 and won the Walter Hopper Junior Section Championship to become the only person to win both in the same calendar year.
"I'm excited for Zac to join our program and I know he has his best times in front of him," said Jones. "He's young and he has to improve physically and mentally, but he has got some talent and I'm excited for him to become a Shocker."
