Jamesia Milton's weight throw toss of 65.7 won the event for WSU's women who had seven individual titles on the day. Milton's throw is the second-best in school history.
Also on the women's side, one-hundreth of a second separated two Shockers in the 60 meter dash, while one second separated two Shockers in the 1,000 meter run.
Taylor Larch-Miller edged
Deja Young 7.72 to 7.73 in the 60 meters, while
Rebekah Topham finished one second ahead of
Emilea Finley, 2:54.96 to 2:55.96.
Taylor Swanson won the pole vault with a height of 11-11.75, and
Courtney Mills won the triple jump for WSU with a jump of 38-7.5.
Also for the women,
Kayla Deighan won the 800 meters with a time of 2:23.72.
The Shocker women and men swept the long jump with
Breanne Borman winning with a distance of 18-7.75 and freshman
Jared Belardo winning for the men with a jump of 24-4.25. Belardo also won the triple jump with a jump of 49-5.5 to complete the sweep there, too.
On the men's side, as well, Jake James won the 60 meter hurdles in a time of 8.27 and
Cody Scheck won the 400 meters in a time of 50.53.
Newcomer
Zack Penrod won the 800 meters in a time of 1:55.76, and
Taylor Goldsmith won the weight throw with a toss of 64-2.5
Wichita State is next in action Jan. 15 at the WSU-KU-KSU Triangular in Lawrence, Kan.
