ResultsThe previous WSU record was held by All-American Tanya Friesen who scored 4,043 points in 2013, while the MVC record was Malaikah Love from SIU with 4,092.
Borman ran a personal best 8.64 in the hurdles to open the day and ran a 2:27.02 in the 800 meters to close the day's five events. She also tied a personal best in the high jump at 5-8, and set another personal record in the long jump at 19-2.5. Her shot throw was measured at 41-8.5.
Also on the women's side
Gavyn Yetter finished third with 3,773 points,
Jenny Pinkston was fourth with 3,711 points,
Claudia Rojo was fifth with 3,661 points, Marteisha Caines was sixth with 3,528 points and
Sierra Hays was seventh with 3,518 points.
The men's Heptathletes completed four events today with
Chris Peters leading the Shocker contingent in sixth-place with 2,859 points. He ran a 7.45 in the 60 meter hurdles, long jumped 21-3.5, high jumped 6-1 and threw the shot put 42-9.
Kaden Griffin was ninth after the first day with 2,732 points,
Kyle Troxler was 11th with 2,650 points,
John Nicholas was 12th with 2,615 points,
Tyler Knight was 14th with 2,535 points and
Seth Buck was 15th with 2,497 points.
The men will complete the Heptathlon on Saturday with the 60 meter hurdles, the pole vault and the 1,000 meters.
Also today,
Meg Loontjer finished runner-up in the women's pole vault with a vault of 12-3.5, while
Page Stuhlsatz was third with a vault of 11-9.5. On the men's side in the pole vault,
Hayden Bugner was third with a vault of 16-1,
Andrew Pope was tied for fourth with a height of15-7 and
Zach Kudlinski was sixth with a vault of 15-1.
Arneson, Milton Win Weight Throw at Pittsburg State
PITTSBURG, Kan. -- Wichita State's
Skylar Arneson and
Jamesia Milton won the men's and women's weight throw, respectively, at the Pitt State Invitational Friday. |
ResultsArneson threw a personal record 67-2.5 to win the event, while
Weston Cottrell was third with a toss of 63-2.5.
In the women's weight throw, Milton's 65-5 won the event, while
Sadie Suenram's throw of 50-11 was ninth.
Arneson also finished fifth in the shot put wiht a throw of 54-2, while
Zach Loesch was sixth with a throw of 53-11.
In the 3,000 meters,
Kyle Larkin ran a 8:39.68 to finish eighth, while
Dray Carson ran 8:44.49 to finish 10th.
Austin Sturdy was 14th with a time of 8:49.83.
