Tabitha Brown to Join Volleyball Program

WICHITA, Kan. – Tabitha Brown, a native of Spring, Texas, will transfer from Alabama to Wichita State to continue her volleyball career.

Brown, a 5-foot-10 outside hitter, will be enrolled at WSU for the spring 2016 semester and will be eligible to play for the Shockers immediately. She will be a sophomore in the fall and have three years to play at Wichita State.

"Tabitha is a powerful, young outside hitter with a wide skill set," head coach Chris Lamb said. "With her skill set there isn't anything on the volleyball court that she shouldn't be able to do and she should be a very busy player in a Shocker uniform. I see a lot of energy and competitive spirit in her and after getting to know her, I also see someone who wants to learn and get better and I'm excited to help her do that."

As a freshman at Alabama in 2015, she played in 15 matches and 61 sets with 12 starts. She hit .172 with 161 kills, 19 service aces, 98 digs and 26 blocks. She had a season-high 17 kills against Northern Illinois and a season-high 19 digs against College of Charleston.

Tabitha was a four-year starting outside hitter at Klein Collins High School. She was listed in the 2014-15 PrepVolleyball.com All-American Top 50 Volleyball Prospects and Prep Volleyball Senior Aces Top 100. She earned 2014 UnderArmour Honorable Mention All-America honors and won back-to-back District MVP awards in her final two seasons. She earned first team all-district honors all four years and finished with 1,696 kills, 311 aces and 1,308 digs.

Brown played club volleyball with the Asics Willowbrook Club team, where she qualified for Nationals in each of her four seasons. She was named to the 2014 USA Nationals all-tournament 17s team.

She is the daughter of Gary and Latisha Brown and the sister of Wichita State men's basketball player Zach Brown.
